Jonric: What are the main things we should know in order to have a general understanding of environment in which Atlantica Online Gold takes place?
Kim Tae Gon: In the game, Atlantis disappeared some 1,500 years ago because the citizens' greed for power led to their downfall. But artifacts of the civilization remained, and are now emitting something that's poisoning people and jeopardizing humanity. So now, as descendants of the ancient Atlantians, players must travel around the globe to find clues that will lead them to the lost realm, and save the world.
But during the journey, players realize that there are other descendants of Atlantis who are not interested in saving the planet, and instead, are working to oppose them. This central conflict of saving a world in peril sends everyone on a wild, epic chase. In the process, they have to defeat classic monsters taken from the legends and myths of human history.
Jonric: How would you describe the overall look of the game's art direction? What did you aim to achieve in this area?
Kim Tae Gon: Since the game is a globe-hopping adventure around the world, we wanted the look to be like that of our planet. So, the landmasses are shaped the same. We also simulated the climates of the different regions. Actual landmarks, like the Great Wall of China and the pyramids of Egypt, and world history also impact the visual style, and that's why people will be familiar with the gameworld. It's not some totally fictional environment
